Band Bio
Tumbling Dice was formed in October 1984 by Douglas Roberts
and Phil Hurd. The band, in it's original configuration, first
rolled until 1988. With their twin Telecasters and shared love
of Classic Rock,  Blues and Country influences, the Dice were
a supercharged Roots Rock celebration, during the John
Cougar Mellencamp era. Tumbling Dice got their name from a
classic Rolling Stones favorite, and performed frequently in
1980s Austin. Douglas and Phil went on to other projects and
bands, and reconnected in 2009. Brad Hurley, first played
drums with Phil in 1983-84, and again from 2007-11 in
Non-Essential Personnel, joined Douglas and Phil in early
2011; forming the new  Tumbling Dice. Together, these veteran
rockers are committed to making excellent music and sharing
the great time with a new generation of fans. Tumbling Dice
Rock and Roll on, It is a great return and if you love cranking

great time while doing that!

Brad’s love for music started early in Jr. High School, playing
trumpet, although he was a accomplished trumpet player
throughout High School he began to get a itch to play drums.
Being told that he could not switch to drums did not stop him.
With the help of his two drummer friends Tommy Colley and
Glenn Benavides of Buick MacKane and Doctors Mob Fame, They
pieced milled a drum set together and gave him lessons. Brad's
first band “The Blizzards and Oz” made a name for themselves
at the local keg parties. In 1983 Brad answered an ad for a
Drummer and joined Phil Hurd in “ The Bad Connection”. The
Band split and went t
heir separate ways in 1984 and Brad
stopped playing drums. In 2007 after going through a divorce
Brad Looked up Phil after over 20 years and started playing
yet again with  Phil in “Non Essential Personnel”. After the
split of NEP Brad joined Phil and Douglas Roberts to get some
Dice a Tumblin !
