Composite Squadron Eight
         VC-8
The VC-8 insignia is symbolic of what the squadron is and what it represents. Its graphically depicts our mission
and, in subtler sense, the unique spirit of the VC-8. The anchor signifies the sea going nature of the squadron,
while the bolt of lighting symbolizes our readiness for action. The four leaf clover stands for the four squadrons
in the Hat Wing and the bomb refers to the bombing capabilities of the AJ. Finally, the telescope signfies the
nature of our mission--- long range precision bombing.
The above VC-8 insignia patch & cruise book is what my Dad brought home from his two year tour in the
Navy.  My Father was attending the University Of Texas at Austin when his Navy Reserve Unit was called up
during The Korean War. With a little digging I was able to find out why my father was not allowed to talk about
his tour in the Navy. Even though it is now de-classified the information was not easy to find. Most of the
information  was found from personal web pages like this one. The following pages are from the cruise book
and web.
